In this series, we will look at the second part (Mark 13:1-14:31) of the third and final section of Mark (chapters 11-16). This portion of the book covers the center days of Passion Week, a time of more intimate teaching and connection between Jesus and his disciples.
In this first message, Jesus and his disciples move to the Mount of Olives and talk about the coming destruction of the temple, which mirrors the destruction by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. Jesus is not giving us an end-times checklist. Rather, he is speaking of the imminent destruction that is sure to befall the temple due to the political/religious alliance that is formed.
