In this series, we will look at the first part (Mark 11-12) of the third and final section of Mark (chapters 11-16). This portion of the book covers the first few days of the Passion Week or last week of Jesus' life from the trimphal entry to his teaching in the temple.
In this sixth message, Jesus speaks about his ancestor, David. Citing Psalm 110, Jesus speaks of how he did not come to overthrow the Roman government but to focus on ministering to people. Then, he contrasts the self-indulgant attitudes of the religious elite with the self-sacrifice of a widow, who gave all she had in the temple.
