In this series, we will look at the first part (Mark 11-12) of the third and final section of Mark (chapters 11-16). This portion of the book covers the first few days of the Passion Week or last week of Jesus' life from the trimphal entry to his teaching in the temple.
In this second message, we see another example of the Markan "sandwich," where one story (Jesus in the temple) is told inside another (Jesus with the fig tree). We see how Jesus embodies his sermon and calls for economic justice.
