In this series, we will examine the middle section of the gospel according to Mark (Mark 8:22-10:52), which focuses on the developing understanding of the followers of Jesus as his influence expands throughout the region. In this fifth message, we continue with Jesus explaining the kingdom to his disciples.
In the challenging conclusion to Mark 9, Jesus speaks with exaggerated terms: a millstone being put around your neck if you cause someone to stumble, maiming yourself if you are prone to sin, and being thrown into hell. We will consider what these hyperboles mean and how to apply Jesus' guidance to our lives.
