In this series, we will examine the third cycle of the gospel according to Mark (Mark 6:7-8:21), which will conclude the first half of the book. This section focuses on the movement of the gospel.
In this first message, we look at the sending out of the twelve disciples to neighboring villages as Jesus prepares them to carry on the mission. They will prepare the way for Jesus to travel to these town, much like John the Baptizer prepared the way for Jesus. Mark inserts the story of John's execution into this storyline, further reinforcing how oppositional people were towards a egalitarian kingdom over the emperical kingdom.
