In this series, we will look at the first part (Mark 11-12) of the third and final section of Mark (chapters 11-16). This portion of the book covers the first few days of the Passion Week or last week of Jesus' life from the trimphal entry to his teaching in the temple.
In this first message, we look at the preparation and entrance of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem. We compare and contrast how Jesus entered the city to that of other ancient leaders (i.e., royal kings, military generals). While Jesus incorporates some of the commonalities of these festive parades, he also is distinctive to model his humble and servant-hearted approach to the kingdom.
