In this series, we will overview and introduce the gospel genre. We wil explore what a gospel is and unpack the opening introduction to the Gospel According to Mark (Mark 1:1-15).
In this third message, we meet John the Baptizer who comes out of the wilderness and baptizes Jesus. Then, after being baptized, we see Jesus go into the wilderness. The wilderness is a place for us to work through lostness, confusion, and uncertainty. As Jesus returns, he begins his ministry, focused on the kingdom of God that comes to us through a changing of our minds and our priorities.
