DESCRIPTION:Are you reevaluating aspects of your faith in an effort to (re)
consider what you believe? This is the process of deconstruction\, and man
y people of faith today are expressing their doubts\, asking hard question
s\, and exploring how faith meets life in our journey on this earth. This
book club is a safe space to express those uncertainties and to find other
 s who are on a similar journey.\n\nWe will meet on Wednesday\, May 27th @
6:30 p.m. at CrossRoads\, which is located at 708 N. Main St. We will have
a light snack (provided) followed by a conversation over the content of G
 race Ji-Sun Kim's book\, Reimagining Spirit: Wind\, Breath\, and Vibration
. Here is a brief overview of the book:\n\n"The Spirit presents itself to
many as an enigma. Its existence is mysterious and complex\, generating mi
sunderstandings and unawareness of its true purpose. The Spirit’s ambigu
ous nature opens the opportunity for study to unearth the exciting truths
that it holds.\n\n"The Spirit is present in our world in various forms. Th
is book aims to examine the Spirit as experienced in light\, wind\, breath
\, and vibration to help us uncover some of its aspects that invite us to
work for climate justice\, racial justice\, and gender justice. The Holy S
pirit has always been a mover and shaker of ideas and action. The Spirit
’s presence moves\, stirs\, and changes us to become aware of the social
ills in our world.\n\n"The different ways in which we reimagine the Holy
Spirit can challenge some traditional assumptions in Christianity and prov
ide a liberative vision that allows us to work for social justice. The wor
k of the Holy Spirit stirs us to work toward new kinships with God that ar
 e sustainable\, just\, and whole."\n\nReading the book is not a requiremen
t to attending or participating. In addition\, the book club is open to pe
ople of any faith or no faith at all. You do not need to be a part of Cros
sRoads to attend this event. It is open to the public and anyone who would
like to join with us.\n\nFor those that are unable to attend in person\,
we invite you to read the book with us. You can share your thoughts and qu
estions with Patrick Wilson to be shared with the group at the book club m
eeting and/or set up a one-on-one time to visit about the book in person\,
over the phone\, or through chat/text. We'd love your input on the book a
nd how it challenges and shapes your faith journey.
